Reflecting on the Journey

August 10, 2017

I thought I would share my final reflection paper I wrote on my experience of Taiwan and South Korea for a final wrap up to this travel series. Serving Immanuel Service and missional based trips are a great source of spiritual passion among Christian youth. These trips provide opportunities to explicitly partake in God’s work and see a difference be made. It is often heard that perspectives are revolutionized, miracles are witnessed, and (if nothing else) friendships are made. While…

On the Home Stretch

August 3, 2017

The camp at Taejon Christian International School finished with so many wonderful memories and new social media friends! Despite being unsure whether we could handle 7 days and 7 nights with middle schoolers…our team ended up having a blast and a half with our students and wishing the camp wouldn’t end. Each student (sassy attitude and all) shared a bit of their heart with us and served as a humbling reminder of how beautiful youth is. Personally, I was reminded…

Another Country, Another Camp

July 24, 2017

The past week and a half has landed us in South Korea and left us with breathtaking memories of the Taiwan Mountains. Before traveling to Korea, our team enjoyed a Taiwanese BBQ and hosted one final camp for aborigine children in the Alishan Mountains of Chiayi, Taiwan. We finished our first camp at Topper English School! This past week and a half has been a whirlwind-and-a-half *phew* Before putting our nose to the grind stone and teaching, we enjoyed a weekend of tourism around major features of Kaohsiung city. Our wonderful host/Taiwan-Mom/FEARLESS leader “Heidi” took us to Cijin island to enjoy some landmarks, (too much) food, and the night life. The island was accessed by an underground tunnel which connects it to mainland Taiwan. Once through the…

A Plane Day

July 7, 2017

So here I am at 1am in the morning sitting on the steps of the narrow stairwell at Kaohsiung’s Topper English School. Since sleep is not coming, I thought I might share about our travel hauls and first night here 😀 Remember how I said we would travel 24+ hours to reach our final destination in Taiwan? Well, apparently we traveled 30+ hours…and oh boy it was a doozey. We went by plane, train, bus and car. Several hour-long layovers…

We Are Off!

July 5, 2017

For the following month, I will have the pleasure of sharing my time in Taiwan and South Korea. Me and my team of 8 other wonderful students are traveling 24+ hours to partake in English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL) camps. I hope to document my experiences and invite you into the story of the people we interact with through weekly posts. Please pray for our team and the families we meet. I will do my best to include pics 🙂…
